Heatmaps the affordable alternative to Eye Tracking
SME cannot afford to test the layout of the their webpages with live eye-tracking research. But simulated heatmaps based on such research are available.
You could argue that this article covers something which isn’t news. But I’m writing it because so few owners of small and medium sized business seem to know:
(1) the importance of webpage layout
(2) the availability of a reasonably priced way of reviewing their page layouts

Remember when taking your webpage image for analysis to take into account the height resolution of the window likely to be used by your website visitors. With the rise in use of netbooks and tablets, it could be less than you think. Analytics will tell you what it is for your website. My default is 740 pixels.
