Amazon revamps website to make it tablet-friendly

The retail giant Amazon is set to revamp its website in a new form, which is said to be increasingly ‘tablet-friendly’.
Amazon is currently planning the new design and layout of its site with the new design set to demonstrate the benefit of editable websites. The website already enjoys a supremely high website ranking and the new website improvements are intended to try and appeal to the ever growing market for consumers shopping online using their tablets or netbooks.
An Amazon spokesperson said: “We are continuing to roll out the new design to additional customers, but I can’t speculate on when the new design will be live for everyone.”
The new website design, run on Google’s Android operating system, focuses on a revamped home page which has lost much of its clutter and it now contains much more white space, as the buttons are increasingly spread out. On top of these improvements, the search bar has also been enlarged. Possibly the biggest clue that the firm are looking to branch further into digital offerings rather than physical goods is that the new website is increasing the amount of such offerings so that mobile users may purchase eBooks or MP3s.
Whereas earlier in the year, users were redirected to pages with both digital and physical goods, now the revamped website shows a single row of buttons which offer digital goods for consumers.
It is believed by industry experts that when Amazon introduces the new website design, sales may well be impacted for the first month or so as people grasp the new design. However, once that lull is finished with, experts believe that the site should prove a useful addition to Amazon’s already considerable online presence.
Amazon is currently the world’s largest online retailer selling millions of products worldwide from its Seattle-based offices.
