‘Marketers should embrace social media sites’
The owner of an online sticker website has advised marketers to embrace social media sites to boost their company’s SEO rankings.
Marketers who employ search engine optimisation tactics have been urged to explore social media channels for a boost in rankings.
John Fischer, owner of the website Sticker Giant, told Marketing Sherpa that marketers should examine the kinds of sites that increasingly show up in search results.
He added: “If you scan the first page of results, more and more sites come up that are social networking sites.
“You find Twitter, Facebook, blogs, videos – these are not static websites. These are things that have a human being front and centre.”
Mr Fischer added that by reaching out to the members of social media sites and encouraging them to talk about a brand, marketers can create keyword-enriched contents and links.
Sticker Giant itself participates in seven major social channels, including Blip.tv, Facebook, Flickr, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter and YouTube.
“When I was in college, I tried to go to all the parties – now you can be at all the parties at the same time,” Mr Fischer added.
Indeed, his company has achieved the top organic placement for terms like “stickers” and “custom stickers”.
Recent research from DEI Worldwide revealed that people rely on social media websites as much as company portals for information on products.
