Using old news to gain website visitors
Online news lasts longer than offline
The spread of PC ownership with broadband access and internet access from mobile devices is leading to the internet being a primary source of information with a move away from traditional channels such as newspapers, magasines, radio and TV.
As data charges from mobile phones drop, this trend will accelerate.
In a recent article, Adam Parker of Webitpr Ltd suggested that one key advantage of online PR over offline is that articles and news can generate interest over a much longer period. He quoted Emily Bell, Director of the Guardian newspaper’s digital content, as saying that a third of its website traffic is for articles over a month old.
Living Streams Comment: Useful and interesting information on the web can now be highlighted by web users using social bookmarking. These bookmarks can directly bring new visitors to your information as well as indirectly (via the search ranking value that they can provide).
Article and PR web hubs provide exposure to information hungry journalists who may republish the material resulting in yet more exposure and links to aid your search ranking.
