Online ads ‘to go mobile’ by Andy Carter
Online advertisements could reach many smartphone users after new research revealed that a significant amount is responsive to them.
This comes after statistics from AdMob, a mobile website advertising provider, showed that a significant amount of smartphone users are open to advertisements.
AdMob spokesperson Nicole Leverich commented to Internet News: “The smartphone is making a big impact on mobile advertising as the devices are engaging the mobile user and providing a lot more opportunity for advertisers to reach out in different ways.”
She explained that web advertisers have scope to do “so much more” on handsets such as the iPhone, giving an example of one ad which, via GPS, allowed the user to input his postcode to retrieve the nearest location of a product and its availability.
Ms Leverich added that the smartphone’s ability to leverage various technologies means that advertisers will be able to employ more creative ways to reach their audience than they can through PC campaigns.
Catching on to the potential of smartphones, Microsoft recently announced on its official blog plans to update its Live Search Mobile application aimed at making search quicker and more efficient for users.
