Google has announced a number of improvements and new features for its Blog Search service.
The search engine has received many requests for new options to be added to the offering and has responded with the addition of RSS and Atom feeds for specific topics and stories, the most asked for feature to date, it said.
Users can also make use of an iGoogle gadget to embed the front page of Blog Search into their own iGoogle portals.
A new Hot Queries section shows the fastest rising blog searches made via the search service, while Latest Posts displays the newest entries for the most visited blogs on the web.
“While Hot Queries highlights what people are looking for, Latest Posts lets you find out about stories even before people start searching for them,” commented Akshay Patil, software engineer, and Dylan Casey, product manager at Google, on the Official Google Blog.
Bing recently added Twitter posts from the most prolific users of the microblogging site to its search results.
Those searching for a particular person and a term linked to Twitter will see that user’s latest Twitter posts and a link to their account appear in search listings, Bing said earlier this week.
