Twitter continues to diversify offerings by Mark Richards
Twitter has continued to revamp its offering. The new additions make it easier to include videos. Visual content is becoming more important nowadays and should be something you’re investing in.
The growth of video content has been rapid. Twitter has altered its offering to provide a better experience for businesses and consumers alike.
Twitter has proved popular with businesses in recent months and years, with more and more companies developing a presence on the microblogging site in a bid to increase interaction with customers and get a conversation going.
But Twitter is constantly evolving and changing, for example, making it easier to embed tweets and view media within a post, and the website has once again announced a range of changes.
The new enhancements, which were announced on the company’s official blog, will make it easier to view photos and videos, which follows on from the launch of Vine last week.
It means that larger versions of photos will be displayed on the page, rather than in a separate page where they currently are shown. The media galleries will include videos from YouTube, Vimeo and Vine.
As well as these changes, more related content will become available to users of the site, with a simple click on the expansion button in a tweet showing the replies to the post and also the replies to those.
This makes for greater interaction and the ability to keep tabs on where the conversation is going.
What does the change mean?
First of all, it means that consumers and potential clients will be able to see exactly how your business deals with disgruntled consumers. With your customer service so open, it is important to get it right.
Overall though, the changes indicate a further move away from the 140-character microblogging that Twitter became famous for. The site clearly understands the importance of visual content and so should you.
Catering to customers’ needs and wants for more videos and images should form a key part of your marketing and brand strategy, as this is what will bring in the greatest audience.
The additions and changes to Twitter mean that it is no longer acceptable just to treat it as a platform to link to stories and updates on their own website.
Instead creativity is needed if you want to take advantage of the huge opportunities available through the site and other forms of social media.
