Market Research indicates plunge in UK online advertising
Does this mean that online sales are going to fall like offline in the current recession?
EMarketer has said that In 2008, Internet advertising in the UK outpaced all other media channels in rate of spending growth, and that pattern will continue. But 2009 will be a tough year, and even online advertising will take a hit.
Earlier this year, eMarketer estimated that spending on UK online advertising would hit £3.36 billion in 2008—a rise of 27.1%. Now, due in large part to the economic crisis and ensuing recession, eMarketer is projecting that online advertising spending growth will drop to 7.2% in 2009, less than one-half the May 2008 estimate.
