Bing ‘showing PPC potential’

Internet advertisers are responding positively to the launch of Bing, it has been suggested.
Figures from AdGooroo.com have indicated that the number of pay-per-click (PPC) marketers signing up to Microsoft’s new search engine has remained steady since January.
Overall, growth of 35 per cent was seen over the year ending June 2009, over 20 percentage points more than was seen by Yahoo! in the same period.
And although the figure was below the 52 per cent seen by Google, the portal noted that advertiser counts for Microsoft’s service have stood at between 830,000 and 850,000 since the beginning of the year.
“It shows that at the very least, Bing is tempting many established pay-per-click advertisers to taste their service,” it stated.
AdGooroo went on to say that Bing is being visited by almost 22.5 million people each month and although advertisers have not been adopting it as quickly, marketers typically follow the traffic in the long term.
In related news, an eight per cent increase in traffic for June has been recorded by Bing, while the search engine noted that many advertisers have been reporting positive results since its launch.
